If you have a band or a food truck in Amarillo, it's time to start planning for this summer. Both bands and food trucks will have the chance to battle for a spot at the Independence Day +1 celebration this year. There's a Battle of the Bands and a Battle of the Bites coming in June.

Battle Of The Bands Hits Amarillo On June 3, 2025

If you have a band it's time to brush up on your best material. Amarillo Parks and Recreation have announced that they are having a Battle of the Bands in June. The prize? Opening for the headliner at this year's Independence Day +1 celebration. Not a bad prize at all.

If you don't have a band, get a couple of friends together and pick instruments. That's essentially how almost every band ever has gotten its start. Have a couple of cold ones, pick a simple tune and rock.

Battle Of The Bites In Amarillo On May 16, 2025

If you have a food truck, there's another battle that will be taking place that is just for you. It's in May and gives you a chance to go head-to-head against other food trucks in Amarillo. The winners get the opportunity to be vendors at the Independence Day +1 celebration.

The real winners of this battle will be those of us who show up to try out everything that's being offered. Amarillo has some of the best food trucks I've ever seen, and we have something for whatever you might be craving.

You can get more information on these battles here. Both events sound like they could be very entertaining and well worth attending. I'm putting both on my calendar. I might also start looking for a drummer. Know anyone?
