When they started construction on the Georgia street bridge on I-40, I knew it was time to go talk to a lawyer.

I should be ashamed to admit that it took the hellscape that is road construction to finally motivate me to pick up the phone and say, "Yes, I need to set an appointment....yes, to draw up my will."

But now I can say that my wife and children are taken care of in the highly likely event that I get clobbered into the afterlife thanks to the hazardous narrow two-lane stretch that arcs over Georgia street.

Most of you don't need a visual of what I'm talking about, but for those of you who do...behold! I found a relevant YouTube video of this two-lane catastrophe waiting to happen:

I've done the math. I checked my social media posts to see where the commentary on I-40's ongoing construction began. And I can assure you that we've been living on the edge of I-40 and Life since at least April 13, 2021.

It's almost October, folks. And all I have to say is: why?

Why are we still slamming on our brakes and yelling newfound profanities to a God who is not amused by our foul language? If the Grim Reaper is real, I can guarantee you that he's playing chicken out there on that bridge, having the time of his life.

And if that wasn't enough, I got a little surprise today when I got onto I-27 heading North.

More Road Work and Lane Closures!

Lo and behold. The left lane of I-27 is closed. And I found myself with my shoulders hunched, stomping on my brakes, and thinking to myself "Well. this might be it. At least I got the lawyer to take care of that will."

There are too many trucks. Too many hellbent drivers. Too many texte-while-driving daredevils. Too many people on the road to have both highways down from three to two lanes.

I'm not sure what TxDOT or the contractors for the city are up to...but I'm starting to think we are in a parallel universe of inconveniently placed roadside dangers. I mean....really?

What in the Sam Hill is going on here?

If this drags on for another six months, I'm sending those in charge of this debacle the bill for my attorney fees.....and funeral costs....

Say a prayer before you get on the road tomorrow, you'll need it.
